Huy, qué bien! la feria Arte En Los Jardines!

On my visit to ArtWaves I chatted to Peter, a fantastic -and oh, so friendly!- watercolorist, and he put me up to the next local Arts Fest. This was Art In The Gardens, in Sheffield.

I was new to this, I was unexperienced, I was shy, I lacked confidence. But then Arts i the Gardens vetted my work worth showing and gave me the green light. Wow, what a boost to my artistic confidence! Thanks, Peter!

Goodness me....what an exciting place to be! After all that had happened to me health wise, work wise....I found myself in heaven because someone in Sheffield thought my work was good enough to be part of their Arts Festival.

I enjoyed every minute of the planning, the transport, the setting up, the meeting other artists, the meeting the public, the chatting to all walks of life. I even enjoyed the sitting around in the cold end of summer weather waiting for business and watching the wet visitors struggle on....

I sold a few cards, nothing more. I sold no pictures. But yet, being there, being part of it all, having a door opened to new horizons was an incredible buzz and, oh boy, did I learn!

After having had this one experience I now know a few more things regarding exhibiting my work to the public.

I got fantastic honest and warm feed back from Mia, a potter on the stand next to me. And I shall definitely act on it for next time. Thanks, Mia!

Of course, as you can see, learning never ends, fellow artists will support each other. What a community to join!!

I feel I have been born again and now have so many other festivals on the pipeline and I now feels so much more comfortable with showing off what I can do......

En mi primera visita como público a esta feria conversé con Peter, un acuarelista fantástico y super agradable. Él me puso al día con los próximos eventos artísticos de la zona. Uno era Arte En Los Jardines, en Sheffield.

Yo era totalmente nueva en todo esto, sin experiencia, tímida, sin confianza en mí misma. Pero entonces, el comité de Arte En Los Jardines consideró mi obra digna de exposición y me dio luz verde. Vaya empuje a mi seguridad personal artística. Gracias, Peter!

Dios mío… qué situación tan emocionante para mí! Después de todos mis problemas de salud, de trabajo… y de pronto me encontraba en el paraíso, simplemente porque alguien en Sheffield pensaba que mi trabajo era digno de ser parte de su famosa Feria.

Me encantó cada minuto de los planes, el transporte, la instalación, el conocer a otros artistas, hablar con el público, conversar con gente de todas la avenidas de la vida. Hasta incluso me encantó pasar horas sentada pasando el frío del fin del verano inglés mientras esperaba clientes y mirando a los visitantes empapados por la lluvia pasar por allí con dificultad…

Vendí unas cuantas tarjetas, nada más. No vendí ningún cuadro. Pero incluso así, estar allí, ser parte de todo aquello, tener una puerta abierta a nuevos horizontes me daba un estimulo increíble y, anda que sí! aprendí un montón.

Después de esta primera experiencia sé unas cuantas cosas más sobre exposiciones al público.

Recibí reacciones fantásticas, honestas y agradables de Mia, una alfarera que exponía al lado mío. Y por supuesto que voy a llevar a cabo sus consejos. Gracias, Mia!

Por supuesto, como ya se ve, nunca se deja de aprender, los compañeros artistas se apoyan mutuamente. Qué suerte apuntarme a esta comunidad!

Me siento renacida y ahora tengo tantos planes para otras exposiciones venideras y ya me siento mucho más segura de que puedo enseñar con orgullo lo que soy capaz de hacer….
